👨🏻‍💼 Position: Senior Officer: Waste Management

Location: Erongo, Namibia
Salary: As Per Market Related

🎓 Key Performance Areas:

Prepare, plan and implement safe waste disposal strategies, managing budgets and ensuring that all waste disposal activities in your jurisdiction comply with environmental laws and regulations.
Draft, implement and review waste management plans, policies and procedures.
Prepare waste audits, publications, reports and tender specifications relating to waste management.
Investigate and follow up claims of the illegal dumping of waste and work with other waste regulation enforcement staff.
Assist and Oversee waste management schemes, such as at landfill sites.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the salvage yard.
Directly manage and assist with the management and coordination of insourced waste management.
Liaise with industrial and commercial businesses to facilitate opportunities for recycling products.
Develop and implement initiatives, strategies and plans to educate SU’s staff and business partners on waste minimization, reuse, recycle and proper disposal.
Formulate and control the budget for waste disposal.
Collate statistics and compile reports often to strict deadlines
Arrange monthly progress meetings and compose agenda items and keep minutes thereof.
Sign off removal permits and manage the Safe Disposal Certificates where required.
Consolidation of waste record forms & preparation of waste statistics reports.
Handle waste management procurement plan and liaise with Procurement Section.

🎓 Job Requirements:

Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Waste Management, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
Honours or Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in waste management within mining, heavy industry or a comparable environment.
Sound knowledge in compliance with local legislation in terms of transportation, handling and disposal of waste.
Experience in hazardous and general waste management.
Demonstrated experience in contractor management.
Code B or BE/ CE Driver’s License.

🎓 Key Performance Areas:

Liaise with line management and draw up workplace skills inventory in terms of the required competencies and skills that is required by the business and ensure it is aligned with the talent and succession management plan.
Receive and maintain performance management documentation and tracker and conduct refresher training as and when required.
Ensure that all Job descriptions are up to date and that all employees have a signed off job descriptions.
Keep record of all job descriptions and coordinate job evaluation meetings as and when required.
Assist with the annual planning of Workforce plan by verifying current complement with new complements required.
Maintain and update the organizational structure of the HR management system and Visio programme and ensure correctness and accuracy.
Ensure SAP alignment to all complement, structure, title changes.
Assist the EUD’s with the construction of all in-house assessments to ensure adherence to the code of conduct for assessments.
Coordinate and /or supervise all activities related to assessment and ensure OD officials are properly trained to administer assessments.
Coordinate all activities related to the Succession Planning and Talent management.
Coordinate and Supervise the Bursary scheme in terms of submission of academic reports, payment of invoices and arrangements for internships.
Ensure that graduate programs are current and updated to facilitate appropriate skills transfer and enhancement.
Liaise with relevant Tertiary and Vocational training centers to ensure compliance with SU’s memorandum of understanding for internships.
Ensure that understudy and succession programmes are adhered to by liaising with EUD’s on a regular basis.
Coordinate all activities related to Affirmative Action.

🎓 Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Industrial Psychology, Human Resource Management, Organisational Development, or a related Human Sciences qualification.
5 years’ experience in the Organisational Development field of which 2 years should be in a Senior / Supervisory capacity.
Experience in coordinating performance management processes succession and talent management, workforce planning and organisational design.
Sound knowledge of Employment Equity Act and the implementation thereof.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, dashboards and data analysis.
Experience in coordination of Skills Development programmes such as Graduate and Bursary scheme and internship programmes.
Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
